On April 29th, 2011 our dive support vessel, Anaïs, has been launched.
It is an independent dive support vessel that can be mobilized very quickly and flexible. On board, a professional decompression chamber and two complete, professional diving facilities are available. All equipment is according to the English diving legislation (the so-called IMCA standards), which are considered to be the highest standard in the world.
This vessel can be used to perform professional diving work till a depth of 50 meters while the divers can decompress in the decompression chamber on board of the ship. The complete decompression chamber is build according to the highest standards and is Lloyd's certified.
Under water, the divers are permanently monitored with video camera's while they communicate with the supervisor on board. At all times, a stand-by diver is ready to intervene if necessary. This stand-by diver has complete independent equipment and his own air supply. If something should go wrong, the diver can undergo an oxygen treatment in the decompression chamber. Moreover, the decompression chamber and the diving equipment are independent of the electrical circuit on board. If there are no diving jobs for a long time, the decompression chamber and the diving facilities can be demobilized and the vessel can be used to transfer personnel and materials. The conversion of the Anaïs from diving support vessel to transport vessel, only takes six hours. As transport vessel, Anaïs can transport twelve people, next to the crew.
The vessel is anchored using four anchors that are placed by the vessel itself. Accurate measuring equipment makes it possible to position the vessel to 1.5 meters precise.
The vessel is currently used for diving work on the Thornton Bank were an offshore windmill park is being built. Next to the existing six windmills, another 48 will arise. Anaïs can bridge the distance of 27 kilometers between Zeebrugge and the Thornton Bank in 1.5 hours.
